Change to Royal Decree on FASFC inspection frequency
A change was recently made regarding inspection frequencies in the meat and fish sectors.

What changes were made?
- The weighting of the criteria is now determined based on two criteria instead of three.
- From now on, for criterion 1, 30 points are awarded if a certified system of self-checking, or one validated by the agency, as applicable, is in place at the establishment. In all other cases, no points are awarded.
- For criterion 2, 50 points are awarded if no measures were taken. If this is not the case, the base score is reduced.
- After one warning, this results in a reduction of 4 points, after 2 warnings a reduction of 8 points. From 3 warnings and more, this becomes a reduction of 20 points.
- After one official report of infringement: a reduction of 8 points, after two official reports a reduction of 20 points, from three official reports onwards a reduction of 50 points is applied.
- The establishment is classified, based on its individual point total, into one of three categories.
It is on the basis of these categories that inspection frequencies are determined. The change in the number of annual frequencies can be found in the overview below.

The changes to inspection duration per type can be found in the Royal Decree, Annex I part A.
- For establishments carrying out multiple activities (Annex I), the minimum and maximum duration linked to these inspections is multiplied by a coefficient.
- In addition, one overall inspection is carried out per activity performed at the establishment. The remaining inspections are follow-up inspections (already determined by the number of inspections).
