After a non-compliant analysis result from the FASFC (Belgian Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain), an entire batch at Eurofyto was blocked. A lot was at stake for the company: a blocked batch means downtime, extra costs and uncertainty about the cause. Eurofyto turned to AMNorman for support in defending the case.

The challenge

A non-compliant analysis result from the FASFC led to the blocking of an entire batch of pesticides at Eurofyto. Without a well-founded defence analysis, the batch risked being definitively rejected, with considerable financial and operational consequences.

Our approach

AMNorman guided Eurofyto through the entire process: from building the defence analysis to drafting a well-founded expert report and communicating with the FASFC. We investigated where the original analysis result could have come from and on what grounds a new analysis was justified.

The result

The new analysis confirmed that the product was in fact compliant and that the first, non-compliant result was due to insufficient homogenisation of the sample. On that basis, the entire batch was released again.

"AMNorman supported us with the defence analysis, the expert report and the communication with the FASFC. The new analysis confirmed that our product was compliant and that the original result was due to insufficient homogenisation of the sample. The entire batch was then released again."

Edouard Mahieu, managing director Eurofyto
